1970s–1980s — Original Tega Cay: The Founding Communities

Deep-water lakefront lots with private docks, homes that have been passed down through generations, and a front-row seat to the Carolina Show Ski Team's legendary Friday night summer shows on Lake Wylie. This is Tega Cay history — and it's still one of the most coveted addresses on the water.
Windell Woods (Original Section) – The older, wooded heart of Tega Cay with ranch-style homes on quiet, winding streets near the original marina and golf course. Polynesian-themed street names from the 1970s developer era are still proudly in place. Mature trees, genuine character, and a charm that no newly built neighborhood can replicate — this is where Tega Cay's story truly began.
Tega Cay (Core Peninsula) – The original outer rim of the peninsula, lined with large waterfront homes built throughout the mid-to-late 20th century — the seed from which the entire city of Tega Cay grew. These are the homes the Ervin Company first sold starting in 1970, where original residents rallied together to incorporate Tega Cay as a city in 1982. Owning here means owning a piece of history.
