Recap of Tega Cay’s Best Dam Food Festival

One of the BEST parts about living in Tega Cay is the lineup of annual events our city puts on throughout the year. From holiday celebrations to summer concerts and community gatherings, there is always something happening that brings residents together.

This year, we grabbed a couple of friends, packed up our lawn chairs, and headed to the Best Dam Food Festival at Catawba Park, and it did not disappoint.

A Full Day of Food, Music, and Community

The Best Dam Food Festival is one of those events where there is something happening all day long. The festival kicked off in the afternoon and kept the energy going well into the evening.

The event lineup included:

  • Welcome from Mayor Miller, City Council, and Emcee Brandon Sluka

  • Presentation of Colors by the Tega Cay Veterans Association

  • Live music from Brandon Sluka and Band

  • Performances by Jam Garden

  • The evening headliner: Legends of New Country featuring tributes to Lainey Wilson and Morgan Wallen

  • Meet-and-greet opportunities after the concert

The atmosphere throughout the day was incredible. Families, friend groups, and visitors from around the area filled the park while enjoying food vendors, live entertainment, and local businesses.

The Crowd Was Massive This Year

This year’s turnout felt absolutely packed to the brim, which honestly speaks to how popular the event has become in the Charlotte metro area.

Fortunately, the city did a fantastic job managing parking and traffic with the FREE park-and-ride shuttle system. Overflow parking was available at Carolinas Cornerstone Church, which helped keep things moving smoothly as the main lots filled up.

One thing we appreciated was how clearly the city communicated when parking areas near Catawba Park were full. That made it much easier for festival goers to pivot to the shuttle lot without wasting time sitting in traffic.

Legends of New Country Stole the Show

What really made this event shine was Legends of New Country: Wallen & Wilson.

The tribute performances to Morgan Wallen and Lainey Wilson brought a huge crowd to the stage area and completely transformed the festival atmosphere once the sun started going down. By the evening, lawn chairs were spread everywhere, people were singing along, and the energy felt more like a major concert than a local community event.

And honestly, one of the wildest parts is that the concert and parking were completely free. That is getting harder and harder to find around the Charlotte area, especially for a full-day event with live music and entertainment.

Tips for Future Festival Goers

If you are planning to attend the Best Dam Food Festival next year, here are a few tips that will make your experience easier:

Carpool and Arrive Early

The event continues to grow every year, and parking fills up quickly. Getting there early gives you better parking options and more time to explore the vendors before the evening concert crowds arrive.

Use the Shuttle Lot

If the main lot is full, definitely take advantage of the overflow parking and shuttle service. The setup was smooth, organized, and much less stressful than trying to hunt for parking near the park.

Bring a Bigger Bag Than You Think

While food trucks are obviously the main attraction, there are also plenty of local vendors selling products, gifts, and merchandise. If you plan on shopping local, you will want extra room to carry purchases.

Festival Rules to Know

As with many large city events, there were a few restrictions in place to help keep the festival safe and family friendly.

Pets, coolers, outside food and drinks, alcohol, and weapons were not permitted at the event.

Why Events Like This Matter in Tega Cay

Events like the Best Dam Food Festival are a big reason why so many people love living in Tega Cay. It is not just about the food or concerts. It is about seeing neighbors connect, families spend time together, and the community come alive.

For one day, Catawba Park becomes the center of the city, and it is a reminder of how strong the sense of community is here.

If you missed this year’s festival, it is absolutely worth adding to your calendar next time around.
